# Overview

Find out how to set up your different types of contracts within Tahua and get them signed within the portal.\

You have the option to [upload your own contract (i.e. a PDF)](/knowledge-base/administrator-help-guides/contracts/uploading-a-signed-contract.md) into the Portal, or you can create the Contracts through Tahua using Contract Templates, and have these signed digitally.

Every Contract is with a **Counterparty**: the organisation or person the Contract is with. Linking an Application is optional, so you can use Contracts for funded projects and for your other agreements too. ## Using Tahua for contract management only

If your Organisation uses Tahua mainly to manage Contracts, the Applications and Assessments areas can be switched off. Tahua then hides the parts you don't use, so Administrators only see what's relevant to Contracts.

When **Applications** are switched off:

* The **Grants** and **Applications** menus are hidden, along with Grant prompts on the dashboard and in the product tour. (Your Organisation may call Grants something else, such as Funding Rounds.)
* Applicant lists under **Registrations** are hidden.
* Grant and Application filters are hidden from the Milestones list, and options for linking a Contract to an Application aren't shown when you create one.
* Application, Landing Page and letter templates, and Application-related field tags and categories, are hidden from **Settings**.
* Grant and Application personalisations are hidden from the personalisation menus.
* Application-related access rules are hidden from data policies.

When **Assessments** are switched off:

* The **Assessments** menu and Assessor menus and lists are hidden.
* Assessment and decision templates and assessment settings are hidden from **Settings**.

In the report builder, the list of data sources only includes the areas your Organisation has switched on.
