# Milestone Invoices (Xero)

If you need to collect an Invoice from your Applicants within a Milestone, and want this to automatically push through to Xero via your Xero integration, follow the steps below.

When you are setting up your [Milestone Template](/knowledge-base/administrator-help-guides/milestones/milestone-templates.md), you will want to add a "File Upload" field so that Applicants can upload the invoice into the system.

Ensure you have ticked the "Is an invoice" field - this is what enables it to push through to Xero as an attachment.

Ticking "Is an invoice" only controls whether that file is attached to the bill in Xero — it has no effect on the Milestone's payment amount. If you want the payment amount itself to match whatever the Applicant enters (rather than a fixed amount you set in advance), set the Milestone's amount type to **Form Field** and link it to a Currency field.
