Changing an Applicant's Registration Type
This article is for Administrators who need to move an Applicant to a different Registration Type, for example from Individual to Company.
If an Applicant registered under the wrong Registration Type, for example as an Individual when they should have registered as a Company, you can move them to the correct one using Change Registration Type.
Changing the Registration Type permanently removes the Applicant's registration answers. The Applicant has to fill in the new registration form from the start and resubmit it. This can't be undone.
When to use Change Registration Type
Use it to correct an Applicant who is on the wrong Registration Type, especially soon after they've registered, before they've built up much information.
Don't use it to move Applicants onto a new registration form when you're replacing your forms. It clears their answers, so every Applicant would need to register again. See Replacing a Registration Template with a New Form instead.
What changes, and what stays the same
The Applicant moves to the new Registration Type and its registration form
The Applicant's Applications, Contracts, Milestones and payments
All answers on their current registration form are removed
The users linked to the Applicant
Their registration goes back to the start, ready to be completed again
The Applicant's name
Until the Applicant completes and resubmits their registration, they may not be able to apply for Grants. If the new Registration Type has Enable Registration Review turned on, an Administrator also needs to review and approve the new registration.
Tahua doesn't email the Applicant when you change their Registration Type. Let them know, so they know to sign in and complete the new registration form.
How to change an Applicant's Registration Type
If you see "Cannot change to this registration type"
Cannot change to this registration type. One or more users on this applicant already have an individual registration.
Each person can only have one Individual registration. You'll see this message if you try to change an Applicant to an Individual Registration Type when someone linked to it already has an Individual registration of their own.
If the records belong with that person's existing Individual registration, use Transferring Applicant Records to move them across instead.
