# Completing an Assessment

Once you have no Conflict of Interest (or it's been cleared), and you've confirmed any Decision to assess, you're ready to review the Application and submit your Assessment.

If you're not ready to submit the form, you can return to it later via your Dashboard — any changes you make are saved automatically as you go.\

### Private Notes

Some organisations let you keep a private note on an Application — visible only to you, not to other Assessors or the Applicant — for your own reference while assessing. If this is enabled, you'll see a notes field alongside the Application; it saves automatically as you type.

### Understanding Your Score

If your Assessment Template includes scoring, your Total Score updates as you fill in scored fields.

{% hint style="info" %}
Some organisations apply **weighting** to certain fields, so a field scored out of 10 might contribute more than 10 points to your Total Score (for example, a 10-weight applied to a field out of 10 contributes 110 points). If your Total Score looks higher than you'd expect from the individual fields, this is likely why — ask your Grant Administrator if you're unsure how a particular field is weighted. Some organisations choose to hide weighting from Assessors entirely, in which case you'll just see the final, already-weighted score.
{% endhint %}
